Methodology

Exact referral rules with visible precedence

The auditor normalizes supported source fields, applies exact hostname and dot-boundary subdomain rules, and records the stable rule ID and registry version. Direct, blank, source-less, and unmatched rows remain non-AI or unknown rather than being inferred from surrounding traffic.

Limitations

A referral is not proof of influence

GA4 source values can support a documented referral classification, but they do not prove a citation, AI feature exposure, causal influence, or hidden Direct traffic. Google Organic is not presented as proven AI Overview or AI Mode traffic.
